Gate Operations
How to open, pass through, and secure the main gate.
Arriving
Important: Obtain the current padlock combination before you arrive.
The combination changes periodically and may not be the same as the last time you visited.
- Park short of the pine tree on the right. Do not pull all the way up to the gate. Leave room so the gate can swing fully open toward the tree.
Park before the pine tree so the gate has room to swing open and latch to the tree.
- Open the gate and swing it to the pine tree on the right. Use the short chain to hold the gate open against the tree while you drive through.

- Drive through the open gate, then park again just inside so you can close the gate safely.

Close the gate and either:
- Securely lock it with the interconnected padlocks, or
- Use the “fake lock” method (see below) if you prefer temporary / easy access during your stay.
The “Fake Lock” Method
The fake lock makes the gate appear secured from a distance while still allowing quick access without working the combination every time. Use the method shown in the photos you were given (or the illustration below as a guide).

How the Two Locks Work
The main gate is secured with a chain and two brass padlocks. This is how they work together:
- Each lock is connected to opposite ends of the chain.
- The two locks are then interconnected with each other.
- Unlocking either lock opens the chain.
- One lock is typically for utility / maintenance access; the other is the visitor combination lock.
Each lock holds one end of the chain; the locks are interconnected. Unlocking either lock opens the chain.
When locking: Make sure each lock is on an opposite end of the chain and the two locks are interconnected,
so that either lock can open the chain around the post and gate.
Leaving
- Open the gate and latch / chain it to the pine tree on the right so it stays open.
- Drive out and past the tree.
- Close the gate and secure the locks (each lock on opposite ends of the chain, locks interconnected — either lock must open the chain).
Quick Reminders
- Always get the current combination before arrival — it changes.
- Park short of the pine tree so the gate can swing fully open (more than 90°).
- When you leave, put each lock on opposite ends of the chain and interconnect the locks so either one works.
- Never leave the gate standing open unattended.
